Twilight: Eclipse, the movie

Yesterday I took my 14 year old son and two of his guy friends to the latest Twilight movie — Eclipse. My son commented at the end, “Wow, that was short.” “It was over two hours,” his friend replied. The movie was fast paced with lots of fights and vampire attacks, close-ups of Bella, Edward and Jacob’s lips, and appreciative shrieks from the audience of mostly teen girls when Jacob shows up without his shirt on. More shrieks ensue when Edward presents Bella with a large…well, I don’t want to give all the plot twists away. The boys commented that the wolves had been fixed up to make them look more real than in the second movie. They also said the next installment would have to be rated R because there will be a “sex scene” in it. But, won’t that cut back on the audience that can see the movie and make the movie producers the most money? Or will it enhance the appeal? I personally would not recommend this movie to kids under 13. There is lots of violence and the steamy kisses made me somewhat embarrassed to be sitting next to my teenage son. He was probably more embarrassed… A good summer flick and as my son commented, “This would be a great date movie.”
